Hurricane Ian made landfall over the coast of Southwest Florida as a Category 4 hurricane on September 28, 2022. Many have died as a result of the storm. Catastrophic winds, torrential rains, and an overwhelming storm surge caused tens of billions of dollars in property damage. Hurricane Nicole's landfall near Vero Beach brought destructive winds, storm surge, and rains.
